How far is Kingsbarns from St Andrews?
Kingsbarns Golf Links is located on the East coast of Scotland near the village of Kingsbarns, 7 miles (10 km) southeast of St Andrews, Fife. Allow 20 minutes driving time.
How far is Kingsbarns from Edinburgh/Glasgow airport?
It is recommended you allow around 2 hours travel time from Glasgow airport to Kingsbarns, and approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes from Edinburgh airport.

When does your season start?
Our current season runs from 31st March to 9th November. We open our doors for the 2027 season on 27th March.
Are there any dates during the season where the course is closed?
Yes, the course is closed on the following dates:
27th September – 4th October 2026 (Alfred Dunhill Links Championship)
25th & 26th October 2026
4th, 6th, 8th November 2026
Course Closed 9th November 2026 - 26th March 2027
Kingsbarns closes on the 9th of November 2026 for the season and opens again on 27th March 2027.

How far in advance do I have to book a round of golf?
Tee times are available from 1st June for the following year. For advanced bookings please Click here.
Can I book online?
The online booking facility is only for last minute bookings of tee times available for the same day and the following two days. For last minute bookings please click here.
What is the time difference between Kingsbarns and the USA/ Canada?
It is five hours from the East coast and eight hours from the West coast.
Is there a handicap restriction on the course and is a handicap certificate required?
There is no handicap certificate required, and we find golfers, regardless of their handicap, enjoy the Kingsbarns experience if they can keep up with the pace of play.
When do I pay for my green fees?
The payment is settled within 48 hours of booking
Do you accept payments by card?
Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and most debit cards.
Is there a toll free phone number from US and Canada?
Yes, there is. The number is 1-800-441-1391
Are dogs permitted on the course or in the clubhouse?
Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs on the golf course on a lead. However, although they are not permitted in the clubhouse, we have a lovely outside seating area on the terrace where your dog can join you.
Is there parking available on site?
Yes, we have a carpark on site, with plenty availability. If you are self-driving, you can drop your bags off with our golf services team (follow signs for check-in at the turning circle) and then go and park your car.
I have an electric vehicle, are there any charging points available?
Yes, we have four electric car parking bays with chargers available at the bottom end of our car park, (closest to the clubhouse and office building). If you wish to use them, please inform a member of staff in the Golf Services or Golf Operations Department which bay you are in. You will then be charged £10 and your charging session will begin.

Do I need to prebook a caddie?
It is advisable to pre-book your caddie to avoid disappointment. Click here for bookings
How much is the caddie fee?
Our individual caddie fee is £80 plus gratuity. The gratuity is entirely at the golfer’s discretion.
Is it possible to book a forecaddie?
Our caddies do not forecaddie and they only carry one bag at a time.
What is the Kingsbarns Caddie Guarantee?
If a golfer feels their golf round was not enhanced by their Kingsbarns Caddie, we’ll refund the caddie fee, in full, on the spot.
Why are we offering this money-back Guarantee?
Our Caddie Guarantee is intended to give undecided golfers the confidence to take a caddie at Kingsbarns (regardless of their experiences elsewhere) since we know our caddies will add further enjoyment to their Kingsbarns golf experience.

How long does a round take?
Our pace of play guideline is 4 hours 40 minutes for 18 holes.
Are there any restrictions for golfers with disabilities?
We welcome golfers with disabilities but would advise contacting us in advance. We have 10 buggies (to be driven by one of our caddies), available for mobility restricted golfers by advance reservation. The fee for the buggy is £40 plus the caddie fee of £80.
Are buggies available?
Yes, we do have buggies at Kingsbarns, however they are solely reserved for golfers who can provide a medical certificate. Our buggy fee is £40 and they must be driven by a caddie.
What does your practice facilities comprise of and how much does it cost to use them?
There are full practice facilities available at Kingsbarns including a driving range with unlimited balls, short game practice area, bunker and putting green. Use of the practice facilities is included in the green fee.
Do you have a bad weather policy?
Yes, we do. If we have to close the course due to adverse weather we offer golfers the possibility to re-schedule their tee time. Should this not be possible we offer a refund.
Are there drinking water stations located around the course?
Yes, we have several drinking water refill stations posted throughout the course.
Can I buy refreshments during the round?
Yes. There is a well-stocked Halfway House situated by the 10th tee.
Are there on course toilet facilities?
Yes, toilets are situated at the 10th tee in the Halfway House and in the area behind greens 8, 11 and 15.

Are push trolleys available?
Yes, complimentary push trolleys are available. Electric Trolleys are available on request at a cost of £25 per day.
Are golf clubs and shoes available for hire?
Yes. Titleist hire clubs are available for men and women in both right and left handed models at £50 per day. Hire shoes are £15 per day. We recommend reserving in advance.

What facilities are available in the clubhouse?
In the clubhouse you will find. the restaurant and bar, a gents and ladies locker room, washroom facilities, and a fully stocked pro-shop.
What is the dress code?
We request appropriate golf attire on the course and in the clubhouse.
What time does the restaurant open and close?
Our restaurant opens an hour and half before the first tee time and closes whenever the last golfer has departed.
Do I need to make a reservation to dine on the day I play?
No, there is no need to reserve a table. When you golf with us you are a member for the day and we would love you to dine with us! You can let the food and beverage team know on the day.
Do you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
Yes, we do. Although our kitchen handles several of the 14 allergens and we therefore cannot guarantee we are completely free from risk, we do offer several options/alternatives for different dietary requirements. Our team is very knowledgeable, allergen trained and on hand to help and advise during your visit. All dietary requirements or allergies are taken very seriously.
Do you have a gratuity policy in the clubhouse?
We do not include a service charge on our bills, and the gratuity is entirely at the golfer’s discretion.
Is smoking permitted in the clubhouse and on the course?
Smoking is permitted on the course but not in the clubhouse.
Can you use mobile phones in the clubhouse?
Yes, you are welcome to use your mobile phone in the clubhouse.
Do you have Wi-Fi internet access?
We do have Wi-Fi internet access in the clubhouse free of charge. The wireless key/password is available on request at the bar.
Are there shower facilities in the locker rooms?
Yes, there are shower facilities in both the ladies and gent’s locker rooms
Can you purchase vouchers?
You can purchase vouchers which are available for purchase from our reservations team and can be made out to the monetary amount you desire.

Do you have accommodation on site?
We do not offer accommodation on site, but our golfer’s book into a number of hotels and guest houses in the St Andrews area. For more information, please visit our page on accommodation or visit www.stayinstandrews.com
How can I get a tee time at the Old Course?
There are four main ways to do so if you have a suitable handicap (24 for men and 36 for women).
Apply through the Advanced Reservations process at the start of September for play the following year.
The most common way, is to enter the Ballot which is drawn 48 hours in advance. Click here for more information.
There are a number of Authorised Providers (Golf Tour Operators and Local Accommodation Providers) offering packages, including guaranteed Old Course tee times, throughout high season (April – October). Authorised Providers can be recognised by the official 'Authorised Provider' logo displayed on their websites and social media platforms.
If you are unsuccessful, you may wish to enter the Singles Daily Draw,. This is a new process in place to efficiently manage the allocation of any available on-the-day tee times for single players at the Old Course. Single players will be able to enter the draw between 9am and 4pm on the day before they wish to play at either The Old Pavilion or Links Clubhouse. Click here for more information
Can one join the Kingsbarns Golf Club?
Golf has been played on the present site since 1793 when the Kingsbarns Golf Society was established as the 11th earliest golf society in the world. The Society was later reconstituted as The Kingsbarns Golf Club which remains active to this day. The Club carries on its historic traditions holding competitions at Kingsbarns Golf Links. The Club is limited to its present membership of 50 and all members are required to live permanently within the local Kingsbarns area.
