This is not a hole where one can simply “hit it down the fairway”. One must consider a plan for playing into the unusually shaped green. A carry over the bunkers to a raised plateau makes for excellent visibility of the putting surface and leaves an approach angle which puts greenside contours in a position to feed balls towards pins. Tee shots to the left cause these same contours to be confounding rather than correcting. Playing short leaves a blind shot. The sixth hole takes play into the area of the course which has links origins dating back to 1793.
